Time stamps specify a combined date and time to determine a particular point in time.
They are precise to fractions of seconds. Note that the UTC reference time (Coordinated Universal Time, which is the basis for representing worldwide time data) is implicitly referenced.
Time stamps of the ABAP runtime framework are POSIX time stamps, independent of time zone. Each day consists of 86400 seconds, and leap seconds are not supported.
In ABAP, there are two ways in which time stamps can be handled:
Time stamps of type utclong (which is recommended)
Time stamps in packed numbers (DDIC types timestamp and timestampl)
